Christmas Cookies

I have been volunteering at The Ali Forney Center for a little over a year and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.  I have never met a more dedicated passionate bunch of people in my life.  It’s one thing to write a check or drop off clothes and another to get involved.  Like my good friend Oprah told me “people respond to love”.  I totally agree.

My friend Lada and I went to the center with a tray of Christmas tree cookies and a bag full of colored icing for the kids to decorate their own cookies for Christmas.  What a rewarding experience!  The group was over joyed with the idea of decorating their own cookies.  Numerous times they asked what we were going to do with the cookies.  When I told them they were for them to eat you would have thought they won the cookie lottery.  I was thoroughly impressed with their decorating skills as well.  The kids were over the top with “please” and “thank you”, a very intelligent and respect bunch.

The Ali Forney Center couldn’t have been a better host.  I believe they do an absolutely amazing job.  I am proud to be a part of such a great organization.  I have volunteered for numerous places and The Ali Forney Center has truly impressed me.   The staff are so dedicated to their clients and go above and beyond for them it’s inspiring.  It’s not a job, it’s a duty to humanity and I love all of them!

Bill Torres is your go-to guy… hard working and just a fun cool guy … and makes a mean Reuben.
