French Faggots

IMG_3097Remember the Faggots we made last week?  Well, I had a couple left that I was pondering what to do with.  So I turned English Faggots into French Faggots.  In case you’re not familiar with Faggots, see the recipe from last week.  I don’t know what gave me the idea of throwing them in a croissant but it worked out when my friend Clark called them “French Faggots”.  I died laughing and so that means it works.   Bonus, they taste delicious wrapped in a buttery little pocket.  In fact I prefer them this way, I like food that is mobile.  Food that can go in my pocket or I can grab by the handfuls and eat leisurely.  These are a perfect party food.  Make them and throw them in a basket and just let your guests walk by and swipe one or two as they have their drinks.

Buy a roll or two of Pillsbury croissant rolls and a package of string cheese and something to snack of for the way home.  Myself I am a trail mix guy.  Frito Lay makes little packages of trail mix that I can’t seem to get enough of.  Chocolate & Nuts or Fruit & Nuts both equally delicious.

Lay out the croissants on the counter.  Depending on the size of your Faggots cut in half or quarters.  Cut the string cheese in thirds and then in half.  Place a piece of Faggots in the croissant with two hunks of string cheese.  Fold in the sides of the croissant and roll up tight.  Make sure all the sides are tucked in and there is no opening, otherwise your cheese will ooze out during baking.  You don’t want any cheese to escape, cheese is happiness.  I made two versions here, one round with cheese and one without.  The beauty of the one without cheese is that you are able to get more Faggots in there but then there’s no cheese.  Hmm.. tough call.

Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes rotating half way through.  Keep an eye on them.  If you start to see cheese trying to escape yank them out of the oven.  They should be a nice golden brown.

Without the cheese, leaves more room for Faggots ~~yum~~
