It’s Christmas and New Year’s and blah blah blah time of the year. I like to watch those TV shows and news shows that show what happened throughout the year. They make me sad and I realize that life is just moving way too fast. They also make me wonder what the hell I’m doing with myself because every time they run through the year I think to myself, “That happened this year?”. I pick up my cocktail and sit back and go “Hmm, I’ll be damned”.
This year I’ve really gotten into drinking quite often. Nothing fancy or exotic or even educational, just boozing it up with whatever I can get my hands on. At New Year’s though I do like to class it up. Especially since this year I will be able to attend my friend Daniel’s New Year’s Eve Party. Or as I secretly call him, Pepper, because he is fabulous, eccentric and throws one hell of a party.
If I am able to make it to Daniel’s party I would have to “not look like myself” as my Mom would say. I’m wearing my good shirt that I bought from the Gap that I keep in the back of the closet for times like this. I’m wearing my Loony Tunes watch that my Mom got for me when I graduated college. I’m also going to shave. I presented myself to my Assistant Gilberto and all excited with arms held out, “Huh, nice right?”. Even he was speechless. He just shook his head and walked away. I am going to be looking pretty sharp, let me tell ya. Mom and Daniel will be very impressed.
As we head out to Pepper’s er.. Daniel’s party this year I have promised myself in 2016 that:
1. I won’t drink to the point I puke on Daniel’s couch.
That’s it. I’m not a big resolution guy. Never have been. Never kept a resolution either. Sorry in advance Daniel. Did I mention Daniel’s couch is white? For 2016 I will continue to do what makes me happy. It’s worked for me so far. Share and love life and have a little compassion in this crazy world. Thankful for my family, friends and all of you who have stopped by over the years and continue to support this crazy blog of recipes, stories and randomness. Though I joke a lot I seriously have so much love and appreciation for you all and it wouldn’t be possible without you. I am forever thankful.
“Have you ever been in love and overcome that first fear?
Then you know, no one makes it on their own.”
To all of you we say,
Thank you for everything and we wish you all the best of everything. We also hope you do what makes you happy and stand up to those that try to belittle your happiness. Be you. Love you and don’t let anyone tell you different. You only have one life. Make it good.
Happy New Year,
Gus and Gilberto
