Cherry Tequila Sunrise

Fun fact:  It’s called a Tequila Sunrise because you drink it when you wake up in the morning.

I don’t know if that’s true.  Actually, I’m sure it’s not.  I’m not going to Yahoo it to even find out.  Because I don’t care.  I myself think it’s pathetic and just downright sad to drink first thing in the morning.  Doesn’t mean I don’t, I just think it’s sad.

For me though, thankfully I don’t crawl out of bed until noon.  I don’t prefer this time but my body does.  He’s a stubborn son of a bitch.  I lay in bed in the morning and say, “Oh man summers almost over.  I should get up and go outside and enjoy as much as possible.”  Then my body laughs and we go back to sleep.IMG_3986

Tequila Sunrise is right up there for me as a favorite drink.  I’m more of a beer drinker but in the morning..err afternoon, while I’m getting ready for the day I prefer something a little more on the fruit side or healthier side. I’m all about health these days. The Cherry Tequila Sunrise is great especially in the summer. While I’m in the shower, the Cherry Tequila Sunrise wakes me up more than my citrus body wash.  It’s true what they say, that citrus really perks you up and gets you out of a funk.

The Cherry Tequila Sunrise reminds me of the beaches and parties in Mexico and makes me happy to think of my retirement in Mexico.  Love me some Mexico.

You’re probably wondering about the Cherry Tequila Sunrise.  If not, I’m telling you anyway.  I love cherries.  I had a dessert with cherries and cinnamon once and it was a beautiful marriage flavor combo.  I love orange with cinnamon and I love tequila with cinnamon.  And in case I haven’t made it obvious enough, I love Mexico.

Summer is still here for a bit because I’m not letting go without a fight, that’s for damn sure.  So enjoy your Cherry Tequila Sunrise cocktail..at sunrise. Let’s keep with tradition.

How I made the Cherry Tequila Sunrise:

Cinnamon Simple Syrup

200g     water
200g     sugar
3           cinnamon sticks

-combine all three and bring to a boil
-soon as the mix comes to a boil, shut off the heat.

Once the mixture has cooled, add 150g of your favorite Tequila.  I used Patron silver.

Cut cherries in half and remove pit.  If you have a cherry pitter, use it.  Add as many cherries to the cinnamon tequila mix as you can or as you intend on using. The more cherries in the syrup, the more cherry flavor it will take on.  Refrigerate overnight.

In the morning.  Make your cocktail for the shower:

– In a highball glass
– Fill the glass to the top with ice
– add a 2oz shot of the cherry cinnamon tequila syrup
– fill remainder of the glass with orange juice
– Garnish with cherries

Now, make it a fantastic morning!!  Enjoy your weekend everybody!!

Hostile people live in a hostile world.

Same world.”

See, whoever designed this apartment built a cup holder and a candle holder in the bathroom. They intended for the morning to start off fabulous!
